It was cold for Kennedy, and many people were not prepared, they didn’t want to leave.  When I got my commission, we were all Republicans, because our leader was a Republican and Eisenhower was the President. That was in “52.  Through the years some of us evolved to the Democratic Party.” Smalls: On election night I was kind of quiet, because I just moved to a new neighborhood, I didn’t know the neighbors so I didn’t want to get shot. Last time, I ran up and down the streets.
